Our Story
TAMIDA Initiative was born from a shared conviction among a group of Tanzanian medical students, that young people deserved better access to sexual and reproductive health information, and that it was up to youth themselves to bridge that gap. In 2011, that conviction became an organisation.
Starting with a single school outreach programme in Dar es Salaam, TAMIDA has grown steadily for 15 years. Today we operate across 7 regions of Tanzania, running 11 programmes covering SRHR, nutrition, mental health, media advocacy, and leadership development. We have trained over 500 volunteers, reached 10,000+ young people, and forged partnerships with government ministries and international partners including DUF Denmark.
TAMIDA is youth-led, evidence-based, and deeply rooted in the communities we serve. Our motto says it all: Ujana na Vijana, TAMIDA na Wewe
